Sustainability for SNAP-Ed Programs

The Center for Civic Partnerships, together with the Network for a Healthy California, developed a program sustainability assessment tool and companion guide to strengthen and increase the capacity of SNAP-Ed intermediary organizations throughout California which will help achieve the Network’s goal of increasing fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity, and/or access to healthy food in families with children that are eligible for SNAP-Ed assistance.

Program Sustainability Assessment Tool

This free assessment tool tool is designed to help determine areas of strength and weakness within efforts to sustain Network-funded projects. By maintaining project strengths and improving on potential weaknesses, Network-funded projects can enhance their ability to work with low-income Californians, and sustain the community improvements being made in food security, increasing fruit and vegetable consumption, increasing physical activity, and addressing the obesity epidemic.

This tool, along with the associated companion guide (found below) were pilot tested by Network-funded partners and found to be valuable in identifying both strengths and areas for additional focus in program sustainability planning.

Program Sustainability Companion Guide

The Program Sustainability Companion Guide provides resources, tools, and "How Tos" to help strengthen those items that were marked as challenges or weaknesses on the Assessment Tool. The Guide may also provide suggestions for how to further improve the highest marked activities on the Assessment. To access this free tool, click below.
