Are Our Programs Aligned with our Mission? Using the Theory of Change Model to Assess Mission Alignment
Steven LaFrance, LaFrance Associates
Presentation Handouts
Successful organizations find themselves faced with tremendous opportunities. However, not all of those opportunities will be aligned with the core mission, and if undertaken for good reasons in the short-term, ultimately will distract attention, focus, and resources from mission achievement in the long-term. In this session, participants learned how to use the Theory of Change model as a tool for assessing how well programs across an organization are aligned with the core mission and for developing an organization-wide evaluation roadmap.

No doubt you have heard the term logic model. You may have even developed a logic model. In this workshop, participants had the opportunity to learn (or refresh their memory) about the purpose, framework and application of logic models. To strengthen their skills and increase their comfort with using this tool, participants were given an opportunity to apply that knowledge to an effort within their organization. Participants were encouraged to use this time to reflect upon their work and enhance their program effectiveness and evaluation skills
